This committee will evaluate the policies, planning processes, land use priorities, and permitting systems overseen by the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) and the Department of Permitting, Inspections, and Enforcement (DPIE) in Prince George’s County.
Through its two subcommittees, Parks and Recreation and Planning, Zoning, and Permitting, the committee will assess how recreational spaces, development projects, and planning efforts align with community needs, environmental sustainability, and equitable growth.
The committee will explore ways to strengthen public engagement in planning and zoning decisions, streamline permitting processes, and promote smart growth that supports walkable communities, transit-oriented development, and climate resilience.
Emphasis will be placed on improving accessibility, transparency, and the long-term community benefit of all programs and initiatives while ensuring that the current county infrastructure can sustain future development and population growth.
